Hot Yoga and It’s Popularity

As everyone knows, yoga has been around as a form of exercise for thousands of years. However, do make certain that you check that the instructor is licensed as the conditions used when practicing are extreme as in hot yoga. If not practiced correctly it can cause serious health problems.

Hot Yoga and The Benefits

When practicing hot yoga, you will expect to be in a studio that placed at a higher temperature than normal.  In fact temperatures can reach in excess of 105 degrees in some of the more advanced classes.  This may sound extreme; however, in order for you to benefit fully from this type of yoga, the temperature must be high. For beginners, this can be hard, however, your yoga teacher will guide you every step of the way and will also ensure that you are not in any danger.

When visiting your class, make sure that you take along your own mat and towels; there will be an awful lot of sweating, so having your own equipment is paramount.  Also make sure that you drink plenty of water before, during and after your class.

The fact that you are practicing in a very warm environment means that your body will heat up much quicker, thereby, creating better circulation. Hot yoga will allow your body to become incredibly supple at a much quicker rate and you will find that you can practice the positions much easier. Because you are hot, the blood is circulated more efficiently around the body and will contain higher amounts of oxygen; this in turn is distributed to your internal organs and muscle tissues.

Once you have been practicing for a while, you will not only notice that your body is in better shape on the outside; you will also feel better on the inside. Do not forget the brain in all of this, it is also an organ of the body; you will find that you senses are heightened and memory is more efficient. Not only that, but you will gain more latent energy than you can, with other forms of exercise.

Hot Yoga and What’s Involved

Hot yoga consists of a series of 26 different poses, whereas the traditional form of yoga comes with 84 different poses. Most poses are performed twice in each class.  You will be asked to hold the pose for around fifteen to twenty seconds.  The average length of each class takes approximately ninety minutes to complete.

It is worth noting that you can burn up to 600 calories in each session, so weight loss comes into play as well as overall fitness. Your body will be able rid itself of toxins in a much more efficient manner using hot yoga as well.

All in all, this form of yoga will leave you feeling much more fit and you will have a well toned body that is healthy on the inside as well as on the outside.  Add to this the mental benefits of this form of yoga and it is hard to resist giving it a go.  Do bear in mind that it can be a bit of a struggle in the beginning, mainly due to the environment in which you are practicing.  However, your yoga teacher will be there by your side. Do not give up after the first class simply because you found it hard; you will most certainly benefit from this form of exercise and will feel better for it in a matter of weeks.
